Once, while shopping at a garage sale, a metal bird cage caught my eye. Though it was missing the floor, it had a beautiful shape and an interesting little decorated gate on the front. I bought it immediately feeling that maybe a bird could be a symbol for the spirit while the cage would represent the body. Later I found out that an empty birdcage symbolizes freedom. A study in light and darkness, Birdcage 3 represents us as a cell for the spirit that is connected to a different dimension that we cannot see.
