In her book, Daily Painting, Carol Marine uses a small apple painting as an example of a daily warmup. This daily apple exercise sparked an idea for this acrylic painting, “Dispearity.” Each of these apples was an apple warmup that ended in taking my whole painting session. Though the apples make a pattern, none stand out. The pear doesn’t attempt to be anyone but himself, and he is the center of attention. So be yourself and stand out.

Be, be yourself
There's no one who does it quite like you
And be, no one else
'Cause if you don't
Then who is going to?

From the song “Be” by Kevin Max
