I used to teach art to a kindergarten class using a wonderful book, Drawing with Children, by Mona Brooks. One of my favorite students (each one was my favorite), Matthew, drew a cat. This cat picture was so endearing I was motivated to make a huge colorful painting of it. Maybe it’s the fact that young children have not mastered fine motor skills coupled with their innocent outlook that enables them to produce such magical works.
