Whether by nature or trained by cultural environment, it seems that most people see the female body as the most beautiful form. Because of the power that the image of the female nude possesses, though, we women can destroy ourselves by obsessing over our bodies. I painted her as I saw her in “Nude with Shadow” and I didn’t try to change her in any way. Flaws are connected to beauty and make us more human and guileless.
