Wildflower

Original: Private Collection

Observed from one of those yellow flowers that grow along the fall New Mexico roads, this flower came out surprisingly precise, especially considering I painted it in acrylic which dries so quickly it is difficult to blend. I’m a bit obsessed with yellow flowers. I used to hate yellow, it seemed entirely too peppy, but now I love all hues of lemon to raw umber. I love how the little gold stars pop up unexpectedly just to lighten up a busy day as I’m rushing around. As if to say, “stop running around, there’s sunshine on the ground.”
